The first time I tried to mount a USB stick on FC1 it was detected as 
/dev/sda1 but would only mount on /dev/sdb1

The /var/log/messages showed /dev/sda was being detected but would not 
work.  In the log file there was a reference to sdb that I tried and 
it worked.

Here is what showed up in the log file.

At a later time it was reversed and I had to mount the stick using sda

This has occured on two different FC1 installs.

Note, the problem changed in regards to device detected depending on 
pluggin in our digital camera.  This is one area where USB needs work.

I found this by running (as root)
   tail -f /var/log/messages
when I plugged in the memory stick.
