Kernel install - stops during boot

Hey all, today I tried installing kernel 2.6.5 on FC1, using 
http://fedoranews.org/jorge/howto/howto01.shtml for a guide. The problem 
I am having is that the bootup stops at "Freeing unused kernel memory". 
Anybody know what went wrong?
