KDE icons not appearing in applications

After upgrading to KDE 3.2.1 (the same problem is with KDE 3.2.2), I
noticed that some icons don't appear in KDE application menus, even though
the icons are in the RPM and have been installed.

Only system icons appear, but not icons in the application menu.

For example, I installed kdar (http://kdar.sourceforge.net).  The icons in
the menu don't appear, onlyh the icon for quitting the program.

Is their a config file that I need to check to make sure that the icons
are being loaded in correctly?
