KsCD Not Seen in KDE, Volume Control

Hi all:

I'm experimenting with KDE in FC1, after using Gnome exclusively in FC1. I can
pop in an audio CD and hear the music, but there is no GUI that pops up as
I'd expect from KsCD. Thus I don't have any controls, no volume control, no
shuffle button, no play button, etc.

I'm getting sound through it just fine, but I there isn't a GUI to control it.

When a CD is playing, I can see that KsCD is running, since it is in my
process list:

charshaw 11010     1  0 09:15 ?        00:00:00 /usr/bin/kscd

If I type kscd at a prompt, nothing comes up, however if I run strace kscd, I
get an exit (here is a snippet of the last few lines from strace kscd, if it
may be helpful):

[...much output deleted...]

getpid()                                = 11075
getpid()                                = 11075
exit_group(0)                           = ?

I've searched bugzilla, but didn't see a related bug, and searched the archive
for the list for "kscd" and "kde cd player" and had no results.

Perhaps something I installed via yum broke kscd? The only related packages I
can think of would be kaffeine and k3b.

And a related question about KDE: Where is the volume control in KDE? I was
able to add an applet to the panel that had a mixer (but really prefer to use
the panel real estate for other things), but I don't see something analagous
to the Volume Control found in Gnome. I'm sure there is one, but I just don't
readily see it where it seems like it ought to be.

Thanks,
Clint
