recommending reiserfs?

Yes, ReiserFS is optimized to provide best performance and storage space
efficiency for small files and large directories but even applications
using large files will benefit from the balanced tree algorithm
postponing fragmentation.

As you might have noticed ReiserFS is now part of the linux kernel and
therefore subject to the same testing and release schedule as other
parts.

I doubt that Hans has intentionally released 'late beta' versions but as
with linux 2.5 he might have ended end up with all the same people
testing and not finding any more bugs. You can then either cease
development and wait for more bugs showing up or assume that the
majority of problems has been found and release the software.
