mkbootdisk doesn't

First of all, the latest FC1 kernel is .2188. You should update! See the
announcements.

I suspect you have a SCSI controller in your system or other hardware
that makes mkbootdisk to include SCSI drivers to the initial ramdisk
image file (initrd.img). If you do not need the SCSI drivers for
booting, like because it is only for a scanner, then omit the SCSI
drivers building a new ramdisk image running mkinitrd.
