I have had problems with soundblaster live/audigy and Alsa for a while
in FC 2
but have some answers:
1/
In /etc/modprobe.conf this rarely works so I use # alsactl restore
after booting
install snd-emu10k1 /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install snd-emu10k1 &&
/usr/sbin/alsactl restore >/dev/null 2>&1 || :
2/
In alsmixer/gnome-alsamixer there is control named
"Audigy(or live) Analog/Digital Output Jack"
I found on my system it needs to 'off' or no sound
