I have noticed several e-mails (on this and other lists) concerning the use of uid/gid with smbmount
not working on FC3. i.e. if I smbmount a samba share, the uid given by a directory listing is the
uid that the files have on the samba server, not the uid given with the smbmount command.

Try adding the following line to the [global] section of the samba server's configuration file:

unix extensions = no

Paul.

Thank you, that resolved the uid issue. However, the I/O error, which I had assumed was related, still
remains. If I copy a new file to the server it's OK. If I then repeat the copy without previously deleting
the file, I get the I/O error after several seconds.

Any clues?

Thank you again
