DNS not working? Does any of the client machines resolve proper
domains correctly?

Try the following things on your windows clients:
1. Open up a command prompt
2. run nslookup
3. server 192.168... (the ip address of you samba and bind server,
can't remember, :D)
4. gmail.google.com
5. If the above resolves correctly, try the other machine names, like aman
6. Tell me what happens.

From Anar, they resolve:
-bash-3.00$ nslookup
server 192.168.0.2
Default server: 192.168.0.2
Address: 192.168.0.2#53

From a DOS window on a client pc it fails:
Z:\>nslookup
*** Can't find server name for address 192.168.0.2: Non-existent domain
Default Server: net0116008.direcpc.com
Address: 198.77.116.8

server anar
*** Can't find address for server anar: Non-existent domain
quit
Server: net0116008.direcpc.com
Address: 198.77.116.8

*** net0116008.direcpc.com can't find quit: Non-existent domain
