I've got a Dell Latitude C840 with GeForce 4 ToGo and I get the
following:

#glxgears

9426 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1885.200 FPS
9424 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1884.800 FPS
9422 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1884.400 FPS
9420 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1884.000 FPS

#glxinfo | grep direct
direct rendering: Yes


I've noticed occasionally after upgrading ( yum/up2date/etc. ) I've had
to reinstall the nVidia drivers to make them work correctly again.

Give that a shot.
