Hi Zeb;

If you want your stream to be available to windows users and Linux 
users, I believe RealPlayer has made their Helix server open source 
which means you will be able to broadcast in format that the windows 
version of real player and Linux version will be able to pick up.

There are probably other open source solutions that can do this for you, 
this was just the first one to come to my mind.
