Okay. I fixed the problem. If you download and the source from
ftp://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/esound/0.2/esound-0.2.35.tar.gz
and then compile with the following commands:
$ ./configure --disable-alsa --prefix=/usr
$ make
$ sudo make install
(Obviously if you don't have sudo setup, just do a 'su' and then make
install)
Why this works is anyone's guess.
