Network/Hard Disk Problem

Sounds like the syslog daemon is writing masses of messages into a log
file. I would recommend to have a look at the messages file while
running the configuration. To do so open a terminal window, "su -" to
get a root shell and then enter "tail -f /var/log/messages".
