Kernel 2.6 and xconfig/gconfig

Hi, trying to compile kernel 2.6.2 and can't get xconfig or gconfig to
work...
The error-messages are:

gconfig:
make[1]: `scripts/fixdep' is up to date.

* Unable to find the GTK+ installation. Please make sure that
* the GTK+ 2.0 development package is correctly installed...
* You need gtk+-2.0, glib-2.0 and libglade-2.0.

make: *** [gconfig] Error 2

xconfig:
make[1]: `scripts/fixdep' is up to date.

and as far as I can tell I have installed all the deps (except its 2.2
not 2.0) any ideas?
