When I did a search on the mailing list for "up2date Traceback", I got hundreds of matches, very few of them had anything to do with my problem, the ones that did, had no responses posted. When I setup this file, I had no idea that you couldn't have the same name twice... I don't necessarilly think that is the case, either, because up2date has been working under this configuration. What I do think, is that if someone posted a FAQ on the fedora website, explaining how to select a mirror, how to configure the sources file, people like me wouldn't have to subscribe to this mailing list, to ask, just to get shot down for not knowing the format for some undocumented file.

I've found that you have to check each mirror site (as listed on the Fedora
FAQ) to double check the path for the updates before putting them into the
"sources" file. Also, there seems to be a period when the mirrors are being
refreshed where the header info may be out of synch with the files or
vice-versa, or files are incomplete. When getting an error, it helps to wait
an hour and give it another shot. When that fails, comment out the current
mirrors and uncomment an alternative.

For a while, rpmfind.speakeasy.net was really fast, but it stopped working for
me yesterday so I switched to rpmfind.net.

FWIW, here's the relevant section of my sources:

yum fedora-core-1 http://fedora.redhat.com/releases/fedora-core-1
#yum updates-released http://fedora.redhat.com/updates/released/fedora-core-1
#yum updates-released http://rpmfind.speakeasy.net/linux/fedora/core/updates/1
yum updates-released http://rpmfind.net/linux/fedora/core/updates/1

Because I don't often hit the "releases" stuff and more often go for updates,
I've been lazy and left the releases pointing to the main (non-mirror) site.
My bad.
