To summarize:

The workaround is to disable kudzu. At the end of the bugzilla report,
there are some parameters to add with the 3c905 driver. They did not
work for me. The only way I could get the card to work was to disable
kudzu. I ended up buying an Intel Ethernet Pro card, and has worked
great right out of the box.

I did not try this, since I don't want to have to compile the driver
