vfat WORKSFORME. Mine came formatted as vfat.

You need to be root.

(tigger pts10) # whence mkfs
mkfs is hashed (/sbin/mkfs)
(tigger pts10) # mkfs
Usage: mkfs [-V] [-t fstype] [fs-options] device [size]
(tigger pts10) #
