System stalls after user login

i'm having a problem where everything seems to work fine in init level 3
but when i go to 5 and then try to log in as a user thru the GUI, the
system sort of hangs and not load up the Gnome session... i'm not sure if
it's a hardward or kernel thing but here's what's in my
/var/log/messages... if anyone has any ideas, it would be great as the
machine isn't really doing much right now :(
