Thanks for the news Dave and Alexandre, I will take Alexandre's path of 
upgrading since I am permanently in X.  2.6 in dev I see... 

Blind panics suck.  Unfortunately this guy has no legacy ports, so there is no 
possibility of hooking up a serial terminal after the fact.
