Sound instability

Hi,

I think I read all the mails about sound problems in FC2.

My problem is that my sound is sometimes here, and not in the next boot,
but should come back maybe next time ... So this is not easy to
understand.

I tried everything, alsamixer, play test sound, aumix, and these are the
result.
- My sound card is recognized ens1371.
- Testing sound card does not work.
- Alsamixer / aumix / volume control has all volumes set high and not
muted.

- My /etc/modprobe.comf is below :
alias eth0 8139too
alias snd-card-0 snd-ens1371
install snd-ens1371 /sbin/modprobe pcspkr && /sbin/modprobe
--ignore-install snd-ens1371 && /usr/sbin/alsactl restore >/dev/null
2>&1 || :
remove snd-ens1371 { /usr/sbin/alsactl store >/dev/null 2>&1 || : ; };
/sbin/modprobe -r --ignore-remove snd-ens1371
alias usb-controller ehci-hcd
alias usb-controller1 uhci-hcd

[root at P4 etc]# lsmod | grep snd
snd_pcm_oss            41000  0
snd_mixer_oss          13824  3 snd_pcm_oss
snd_ens1371            17380  3

snd_timer              17284  1 snd_pcm
snd_ac97_codec         54788  1 snd_ens1371
gameport                3328  1 snd_ens1371

snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_ens1371,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq_device,snd_pcm,snd_timer,snd_ac97_codec
soundcore               6112  3 snd

/var/log/message shown the classic FATAL error sound-slot-1...
P4 modprobe: FATAL: Error running install command for sound_slot_1

What I know, is that maybe the next boot (!), I will have sound, maybe
not.

Where does this instability come from ? Do I have to think that a reboot
should fix the problem, as I used to think on another OS before ;-). Or
do I have a hardware problem ? But anytime I boot in RH9, I always have
sound ...

Thnaks, for your help.

Philippe
