I don't think that you need to recompile the kernel, but sorry, I don't
know why your card is not recognized by your current system.
First, make sure that it is not a hardware problem, e.g. does the card
run ok under Windows?

Next, try the driver at http://www.metzlerbros.org/dvb/index.html .
Download the version 1.1.7 .  The INSTALL file contained therein
has detailed instructions.

If it still doesn't work, there will almost certainly be error
messages when you compile the driver, when you install the modules,
or in dmesg.  It is beyond my expertise, but if you post those
messages here, someone can probably help.
