Is it off topic if it could affect the Fedora Project.

Looking at the problems with SCO and how they affected Linux this past 
year it could be important.

The US patent office is swamped and I read an article some time ago 
about how some patents are approved with very little investigations.

Even the term windows has caused problems for Lindows.  When will 
Microsoft come after the Linux bandwagon with IP and patent violation 
claims.  Who has the money to fight.
