Promise Fastrak 2000

Can not get the machine to boot with Kernel 2.6.5-1.358
(freeze after "freeing unused kernel memory").

Boots OK with kernel 2.4.22-1.2149

The only thing not realy standard on this machine is the raid 
controller: Promise Fastrak 2000
I guess the problem must be somewhere around that, but what...

I'm just using 1 HD, the crontroller is used for HD 2 HD backups.

On fedora core 2.

Any ideas?
