How to disable beep altogether

To disable the login beep, add the line "/usr/X11R6/bin/xset -b" to your 
*/etc/X11/gdm/Init/:0 file,*  right after the copyright and minus the 
quotes. To disable the system beep, edit */etc/inputrc* and remove the 
comment from the second line - "set bell-style none".
