FC2 kernel does not boot

I installed FC2 on an Asus A7N8X with 1 GB RAM and 2 x 200 GB Maxtor
PATA drives. The installation went smoothly. I configured most of the
partitions, including boot and /, as RAID 1 volumes.

When I try to boot my shiny new system, all I get is (the last two
lines):

---8<---8<---8<---8<---8<---8<---8<---8<---8<---8<---8<---

Uncompressing Linux... Ok, booting the kernel.
audit(1087751636.705:0): initialized

---8<---8<---8<---8<---8<---8<---8<---8<---8<---8<---8<---

Thats all. After that, the machine just hangs. This happens with the SMP
kernel also.

It looks to me like the kernel get's loaded from the boot volume and is
even uncompressed and booted. So this shouldn't be a RAID issue..?

I've been running FC1 since last year on this same machine (minus those
hard disks).

Any suggestions? What goes wrong? Should I try disabling something?
(selinux=0 had no effect)
