i8k utility on DELL 8600 with FC2

Hi,

Has anyone manged to get the ik8 utility working on FC2. I am trying to 
install it on an 8600, but all I get is the following error.

root at localhost root]# /etc/rc.d/init.d/i8kbuttons start
Starting i8kbuttons: FATAL: Error inserting i8k 
(/lib/modules/2.6.6/kernel/drivers/char/i8k.ko): No such device
                                                           [  OK  ]
[root at localhost root]# unable to open i8k proc file: /proc/i8k

I've search google and come up with a few pages that suggest i8k is not 
compatible with kernel 2.6.* (I'm running 2.6.6). Is this really so ... I 
really hope I am mistaken since this utility is useful for controlling the 
fans etc. (currently they run all the time...)
