not using CUPS?

I'm running FC2 with a Canon S200 printer (gimp supported).  Anything I print is improperly formatted, so I did a CUPS test page and 
it was also not correct.  But when I test printed a standard ("letter") page, it came out fine.  Is there a way to shut off CUPS and print 
directly to /dev/usb/lp0?
