That's it Chris!

nousb allows me to boot the smp kernel.

However, now I have no USB and had to convert my USB mouse to PS2
using an adaptor. The adaptor is barely hanging in the PS2 port and
could work it's way lose if I move the system unit any.

I would like to get USB working. Any idea how to find out why the USB
modules causes the smp kernel to hang but single processor kernels
work fine?
