Nothing at all? Not even failed login messages? Could you post the log lines
from approximately the time period when you were trying to log in?

Another thing to try would be to run "authconfig". This will rebuild the
PAM config files which determine how authentication is handled.

(PS -- a back-and-forth conversation with multiple people is much easier if
you don't top-post.)
