Desktop icons no longer have pictures or actually work?

HI all,

After upgrading to FC3, all desktop icons are broken. Is this due to Gnome 2.6 
and 2.8?

Clicking just opens gedit with:

[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Version=1.0
Type=Application
Exec=gmplayer
TryExec=
Icon=/usr/share/pixmaps/user_icon.png
X-GNOME-DocPath=
Terminal=false
Name[en_GB]=Movie player
GenericName[en_GB]=
Comment[en_GB]=
