FC3: Stuck at: Configuring kernel parameters

My system does not continue booting after displaying "Configuring kernel
parameters". When I press CTRL-C after a while it continues loading but
error messages about read-only filesystem appear. But when I boot
directly into level 3 by adding 'level 3' to grub it boots fine.

This is on FC3 x86_64 with the latest Nvidia driver installed.
