FC2 System freezes until a key is pressed

Hello

After a few hours of running my FC2 system on a dual P3 1GHz m/b (ABIT 
VP6) freezes up, especially during high levels of i/o activity. The 
feeze up (actually a major slow-down) is accompanied with floods of

in the system log. IRQ 10 is usb and IRQ 18 is ide.

Strangely hitting ALT or CRTL on the keyboard or any incoming network 
traffic seems to un-freeze things for a while but the system continues 
logging errors and runs erratically until rebooted.

Any ideas?
