yum vs. apt

Well I use apt with Synaptic front end without any problems the list of repos 
that is installed by default is impressive covering various RedHat releases.

With regards to Newbies IMHO this is a better option than yum due to that 
dreaded word GUI with Synaptic you can see everything available at a glance, 
use it to un-install things and it sorts out the dependencies it will also 
select additional packages for install if required so if a novice selects 
something and doesn't realise another bit is needed they wont get in a mess.

As others have said yumi doesn't work (at the moment) apt offered to install 
it and it is installed but it cries about cannot import client something or 
other.
