zip drive and FC3

hi,
	When i plugin my usb zip drive, I am unable to type anything on any
console. so i can also not read the contents /etc/fstab. but everything
works fine if plugin the zip drive before booting.

system info are as follows
FC3 - clean fresh install, no updates applied yet.
Iomega zip drive - fat32
KDE

	running top shows that when i plugin the drive, hald come to the top
for one second and then khubd remains at the top continuously taking
around 10% of cpu.
	i will not be able to apply all the updates. will be it enough just to
apply the udev updates manually. but there are two udev rpms in the
update list. which one should i apply.

and can i some allow normal users to use cdrom without using fstab-sync.

can someone lead me to some howto regarding mounting devices on FC3.
