You may have upgraded already and just need to tidy up.

How far does the bootstrap loader get?

What happens if you boot to runlevel  1 - Single user mode.
What happens if you boot the rescue CDROM.

Perhaps this is a display problem.
What happens if you key in Ctl+ALT+F1

How did you have your BIOS configured to boot Aurox.
Was it previously booting from CDROM? (reset BIOS boot stuff).
