Status of the keyboard repeat problem

Does anyone know the status of the fix for the bug in fedora core 2 that
disables keyboard repeating? (pressing down a key would usually send
repeated keystrokes, but this bug keeps it from happening).

When I try to change the setting in the keyboard preferences I get this
error:

Type mismatch: Expected `int' got `float' for key
/desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/delay

I have seen the bug documented, but no answers yet.
