Wait... settings get reset, as in, you change the applet preferences?
Or settings get reset, as in it's not on your panel anymore?

If it's the latter, just make sure you put a check in the box that
says "Save Current Setup" when you logout/shutdown/reboot Gnome. If
it's the former... I have no idea.
