USB Mass storage

Is the USB Mass storage module broken in later releases of the Kernel? A
default build of FC2 happily detects my camera, and I can mount it,
later versions, including the latest kernel detect the presence of the
USB device, but are unable to detect what it is and exit with an error
code of -1.
