wierd and specific SMTP connectivity problem between fedora core 2 and Lotus Domino Release 6.5.1

Either the OpenBSD the Domino is running on has a problem or a router in
front of it. Set

echo 0 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_window_scaling

on any of the FC2 machines and you will instantly get an quick response
from the SMTP, without any lags. If TCP window scaling is on, then you
get the described behaviour. There was quite some discussion about
problems with TCP window scaling and kernel 2.6, i.e. articles available
on lwn.net.
