route not found problem

Hi List,
         I have two machines in office one on fc3 and other xp (both on 
dhcp)
if I try to ftp any public or internet site  from fc machine I get error
route not found

whereas it works ok on ther XP machine

when try to add default gateway (or any of the routes i found XP routing 
table) I get following error
SIOCADDRT: File exists

Pl help me as I am not able to connect any of external servers
