Thanks Alexander,

I couldn't find a connection between the security patch and this patch.

This one patches `/devtools/OS/Linux' with an `-fpie' option for all
the `confOPTIMIZE' defines, then takes out the one file strerror.c
from the /libsm/Makefile.m4 file.

I can only guess that the -fpie option doesn't need the strerror.c
file in the library for libsm.  Or FC1 already has a library file
elsewhere that has a strerror() function.
