Increasing the timeout as suggested by Thomas would be a good idea. You
might also want to try using a more local mirror of the Fedora Extras
repository (the default configuration only uses the
download.fedora.redhat.com site at the moment, which is often very
busy).

Try editing /etc/yum.repos.d/fedora-extras.repo and change it from this:

[extras]
name=Fedora Extras $releasever - $basearch
#baseurl=http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/extras/$releasever/$basearch/
mirrorlist=http://fedora.redhat.com/download/mirrors/fedora-extras-$releasever
enabled=1
gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-fedora-extras
gpgcheck=1

to this:

[extras]
name=Fedora Extras $releasever - $basearch
#baseurl=http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/extras/$releasever/$basearch/
#mirrorlist=http://fedora.redhat.com/download/mirrors/fedora-extras-$releasever
baseurl=http://public.planetmirror.com/pub/fedora/linux/extras/$releasever/$basearch/
	http://mirror.optus.net/fedora/extras/$releasever/$basearch/
enabled=1
gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-fedora-extras
gpgcheck=1
