Starting mysql and sendmail

Dotan,
This is the simplest test I can think of to check your email.

1. ssh into your fedora box.
2. Execute this command

echo "test email message" | mail -s "this is a test" dotancohen at gmail.com

If your mail system itself (sendmail by default, I think) is working, you
should get an email in your gmail account. Be warned, I just tested this and
gmail marks it as spam. If this does not work, then you probably do not have
your Mail Transfer Agent (MTA) set up correctly. This is the software that
sends your email. If this doesn't work, I'm afraid I'm clueless as to where
to begin to fix this with the default distro. I run FC 2 at home, and I
became so fed up with the sendmail config that I completely removed it and
installed Qmail in about two hours from scratch. If you can't get sendmail
to work via webmin and the webmin docs, I would reccomend qmail. You can get
a superb tutorial at http://www.qmailrocks.org/.

Hope this helps,
Todd
