Wish I could help, but, if it's any solace, I'm typing this response while 
looking at my Dell 2000FP running at 1600 X 1200, so it 'can work'. My guess 
would be that there's something wrong with the video driver, but I'm not sure 
how you'd fix it. Someone running your same card will hopefully step up. I 
run a 9200SE ATI with the ATI driver builds from Livna.
