Actually no... There is a whole library within GNOME dedicated JUST to 
that, file operations from the file->menu. So programmers just call & 
link to that library and the file selector comes up... I can't help but 
think: such a simple applicaton and they *had* to complicate it... The 
actual layout is OK, but if they had just included a location bar-like 
widget, that would have been swell...
