Where it says "Username", enter "root" (without the quotes) and [press 
return.

It'll then ask you for the root password you set up during the 
installation. Enter it and press return.

It should then log you in to a gnome session by default.

You can right-click on the desktop and select "Open Terminal" to open a 
terminal.
