I was reading the first half of the first one (and will probably skip
the second one completely). About 99% of things he was ranting about
are as well applicable to setting up the printer on Windows (which he
uses as an example of "smart UI"). An example of how adding the pritner
on Windows can be intuitive and easy is adding JetDirect network printer
(and some other types of networked printers, such as printers connected
to some older SMC broadband routers), when prompted "local or network
printer", you were supposed to select "local printer" (!?) and than
configure it to use virtual local port (driver for which would than send
the print jobs over the network, oh, and of course you need to remember
to install darn driver for virtual port before adding the printer).
Very intuitive.
He had a point or two that were OK. But they were totally lost in all
that rant. But again, if he just made the point, instead of ranting,
the page would be only a paragraph long, if not shorter ;-)
