dual-display - ATI, Intel 815 -can't get it to work

I've been trying to get dual-display to work with my internal Intel 815 
video card and have also tried two different PCI video cards with not 
much luck. (Radeon 7200 locked up during boot, switched to ATI card.)

As a reference to the trouble that I am having, below is a bug link to 
my most recent bug report. I have tried to switch the primary and 
secondary order with not much success. The bug report is a bit hard to 
follow, but is sort of a collection of previously filed bugs.
