Command line grub - how to make it a GUI?

Hi all,
I've replaced SUSE with Fedora Core 2, but now I get grub in command-
line mode only. As I'm a fairly new convert from XP (and its still on
the box, hence the need for grub), I really don't know how to work with
the command line version. How can I:
1) boot an OS (XP or Fedora)
2) change it to the nice gray GUI that i have on my other Fedora/XP box.
