Yes, this is exactly what you need to do.  Once you have the updated files, 
you can create an updated image with something like:

mkisofs -J -R -v -T -o /destination/rescuecd.iso \
-b isolinux/isolinux.bin -c isolinux/boot.cat \ 
-no-emul-boot -boot-load-size 4 \
-boot-info-table .

This tells how to rebuild an entire (updated) distribution which should 
include an updated rescuecd.iso.  

However, one question I have (which maybe some anaconda guru could answer) is:

Is there is a "short-circuit" way of invoking the anaconda scripts to just 
produce the rescuecd.iso?
